History
Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center of Flushing, New York was formed in 1976
The Center provides a meeting place for studying and practicing the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Our Center attempts to be the focal point for individuals who are striving to lead disciplined spiritual lives and strives to provide an environment where people who aspire to lead spiritual lives are able to assemble and learn from one another. This is accomplished by engaging in devotional, educational, and service programs recommended by Sri Sathya Sai Baba, which help us to progress along the spiritual path.
Our center is part of the International Sai Organization, which has over 1200 centers in more than 114 countries. The Sri Sathya Sai Baba Organization is a spiritual one; it recognizes the fundamental unity of all the religions of the world. It is a non-political, non-profit Organization. Its followers are drawn from all races, colors and creeds. In Sai Baba’s ashram can be found Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and the followers of other spiritual gurus.
The primary objective of the Organization is to aid seekers in their quest for God by helping them to recognize the divinity in all. The Center provides a forum where spiritual aspirants learn spiritual values. It is also a meeting place where members practice the teachings of Sai Baba, with special emphasis on service to others.
Our Center Activities
Sathya Sai Center Flushing meets regularly once a week on Sundays for conducting devotional sessions, at which several spiritual activities are conducted. These include, devotional singing, prayers, meditation, study circles on spiritual topics.
There are also special programs for children on Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) also known as ‘Balvikas’. Service to the community is an integral part of every Sai Center. Along those lines, our center conducts several community service activities on a weekly basis.
Our Core Values
Fundamental aim of the centers is to establish the essential unity of all faiths and to propagate through example and practice the principles of Truth (Sathya), Righteousness (Dharma), Peace (Shanthi), Love (Prema) and Non-violence (Ahimsa). The Sathya Sai Organization thus seeks to “awaken in man, the awareness of the Divinity inherent in him”

A few words about our activities
The Sathya Sai Service Organization’s response to hurricane Sandy was mentioned in the March 2013 issue of RadioSai’s H2H Journal. This report includes the miraculous events that led to reuniting an elderly lady from the Queens Shelter in Flushing (with her family) in the aftermath of the storm in Nov 2012.
